History

Picture
Built in 1915, the Elite Hall in Hyrum is a venue without equal. The historic Prairie School-style structure encloses a massive spring-loaded dance floor, the only one of its size left in the state. Feeling the movement of the floor while dancing to live music is an unparalleled experience. The second-story mezzanine that encircles the dance floor provides a great view of the festivities plus a nice location to relax and enjoy the music.

The Elite Hall was added to the National Register of historic buildings in 2003.

Here is an image from 1915, when the Elite Hall was under construction after the old Opera House burned down in 1914.

The Elite Hall is the only operational spring-loaded dance floor left in Utah. This image shows the floor’s springs on independent foundations, which is how they still look and function today.
